Abstract

            This is a review of the development stages of bibliographic description from Calimah until today; the contribution of IFLA and European countries in unifi cation of normes of bibliographical description; the evolution of documents prepared for international bodies in cataloging; the contribution of the City Library Chișinău and its director Daria Harjevski to improve the systematic catalog, the union catalog including serials and alphabetical catalogs – important information tools for Chișinău inhabitants the early 20th century.
