Abstract

The digital transformation of libraries is a complex and continuous process, which involves the integration of modern technologies to improve access to information, resource management and user experience. A modern Integrated Library System (ILS) plays a crucial role in the digital transformation of libraries. Integrated library systems, combined with resource digitization, personalized services and the use of emerging technologies, can make libraries much more accessible, relevant and useful in an increasingly digital world. The article presents brief information on terminology, types of integrated library systems, future solutions, such as library service platforms. As an example is presented the Koha ILS, which allows efficient resource management, lending processes acquisition, cataloging and access to collections, which is in perpetual development.
